Custard Powder Milk Halwa

Custard Powder Milk Halwa..Again I m here with a quick sweet for Eid, which is one of the best last minute rcps..You need just under 20 mins to make this delicious halwa..But you can serve it for more no. of ppl, especially for the unexpected guests..Thus u can make this even on the day of Eid instead of preparing on the previous day itself..The rcp may sound too simple, but you have to do everything at the right time to make it perfect..

I hav made custard powder halwa without milk, ie with water, already for an Eid before..It was such a glossy halwa, and came out perfect when tried..So, while thinking of a last minute sweet/dessert, suddenly this one came into my mind, and I thought I could try with milk this tym..But I had a slight doubt that it will turn out into a fruit custard like consistency, becoz milk is used here..Surprisingly, the ghee made the magic, and created it as a perfect halwa..

So, try this easy n tasty rcp for Eid frnz..I know many of u r celebrating Eid today, and in some other places including our native, we r celebrating the next day..Anyways, my heartiest Eid wishes to all of u..See u after Eid with my next rcp :) ..

RECIPE:
--------------------------------------------
Preparation Time: 2 mins
Cooking Time: <15 mins
Serves: 1 plate(16 pieces approx.)
--------------------------------------------
INGREDIENTS: [1 cup=240 ml]
--------------------------------------------
Vanilla Custard Powder - 1/2 cup
Milk - 500 ml
Sugar - 1.5 cups or a little less
Green Food Color(optional) - a pinch
Ghee - 3 tbsp + 1 tsp
Groundnuts - 1 tbsp or more

METHOD:
-----------------
1. In a small pan, add 1 tsp ghee, and roast the groundnuts after removing their skin, and breaking each of them into two pieces. Remove and set them aside.

2. In another nonstick kadai, add the sugar, custard powder, milk, and food color one by one, and whisk very well to remove lumps. Keep in mind that you have to do this step OFF the stove.

3. Now, switch on the stove, and cook the mix in high flame for a few minutes until the mix starts becoming thick. Keep on whisking continuously throughout. Then change to low flame and continue on it till the end of the process.

4. Now, add 1 tbsp of ghee, and again keep on stirring well with a spatula. The halwa starts getting thicker and glossy at this stage.

5. Now add the remaining 2 tbsp of ghee at regular intervals with continuous stirring in between. The halwa starts to leave the sides of the pan.

6. When the halwa almost leaves the sides of the pan, add 1/2 portion of the roasted groundnut pieces, and mix well. Cook for 1-2 more minutes, and you are done.

7. Transfer to a ghee greased plate, and level well with the spatula. Allow to cool at room temperature. You can also refrigerate if needed, but that's optional. Invert the halwa to another plate, cut into pieces and serve with the remaining groundnuts topped. Thats it!!

Your quick n delicious custard powder milk halwa is ready to be served!!Njjoyy!!

NOTE:
-----------
1. You can make the same rcp with water/coconut milk too.
2. You can use any nuts of your choice, but I recommend groundnuts since it gives an excellent aroma and taste needed for the halwa.
3. The food color is optional. But I used it to get rid of the usual yellowish custard color, unlike in the case of water where you get an orange color.
4. This stays good for a couple of days when stored in the refrigerator.
