Ottaadai

This is a popular breakfast tiffin in our district Kanyakumari and in Kerala as well..Very easy to prepare!! We do this for us during usual days, for guests, and for EID breakfast..Tasty as well as healthy!!

It has become a favorite for my toddler too. Since it is made of egg, I make this often for her with desi eggs, and she loves it!..

You cannot make this in nonstick or iron tawa..So, before trying this recipe, make sure to buy the clay tawa which is specially used for this.

RECIPE:
--------------------------------------------
Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: <2 mins for each
Serves: 6 no's
--------------------------------------------
INGREDIENTS:  [1 cup=240 ml]
--------------------------------------------
Rice flour - 1/2 cup
Egg - 1
Salt, water - as req.

METHOD:
----------------
1. In a bowl, add rice flour, beaten egg, salt, and little water and mix well to make a thick paste.

2. Add this mix in a blender n pulse for a few mins. Pour this to the bowl.

3. Again add little water to the blender, pulse a few times, pour this water to the bowl.

4. Add salt, mix well. The batter should be a little thinner than the dosa batter.

5.
Heat a clay tawa very well, pour a ladle of batter, close the lid, and cook only on one side. Remove from heat n serve hot!!

Goes very well with nonveg/veg kurumas, especially with coconut milk+roasted beef combo!!

NOTE:
----------

1. You can use both idiyappam flour or puttu flour for making this.
2. Heat the clay tawa for more time than iron dosa tawa, else the batter would stick to the clay tawa. You should feel the heat very well when showing your hand over the tawa, even in simmer.
3. After removing each ottaadai from tawa, immediately place them closed in a hot pack/any vessel till consumed. Else, it will become dry as time goes.
